Product Description

0.22 Micron Hydrophobic Laminated PTFE Membranes For Anti-Bacterial Filters

The microporous PTFE membranes we offer are produced by expanding the PTFE (fine powder resin) into a 3-dimensional web-like structure called ePTFE which creates billions of microscopic pores. This structure utilizes the inherent hydrophobic (water-resistant) and non-stick nature of PTFE to allow removal of particulate captured on the membrane surface. These hydrophobic PTFE membrane filters are laminated onto nonwoven polypropylene backing for improved dimensional stability and increased mechanical strength, preventing the membrane from curling or losing its shape, enabling further aggressive processing and convenient use in most disc filters.

Due to broad chemical compatibility and inherently hydrophobic properties, PTFE Laminated Membrane Filters are suitable for a wide variety of applications including clarification of compatible non-aqueous solvents, phase separations investigations, venting including water repellency, and environmental air sampling.

Our laminated ePTFE membranes provide medical device manufacturers and research laboratories with a consistent, temperature and chemical compatible barrier to microbes and particulate matter. The optimal combination of air flow and water entry pressure adds value to most device designs. These membrane filters are generally offered in roll formats, but flat sheets and circles can be customized to meet individual customer's applications. Pore sizes are selectable and can be tailore-made, the most popular spec is 0.22 micron which is a perfect choice for medical use against bacteria and aerosol contaminants, an effective barrier against airborne particles, microorganisms and aqueous fluids, providing a safe and hygienic solution for both patient and operator.

Applications

Laminated PTFE membranes offer a range of benefits when it comes to filtering and sterilizing gases and liquids. Their chemical resistance, durability, and hydrophobic characteristics make them ideal for use in demanding applications in the biotechnology, medical and pharma industries. For example, the hydrophobic characteristics makes PTFE particularly useful in applications involving air venting and aqueous aerosols filtration. In venting applications, the membrane's hydrophobicity helps to prevent the passage of airborne particles, ensuring a clean and safe working environment. Due to their high thermal resistance, laminated PTFE membranes are suitable for use in industrial and commercial settings where high temperatures may be present. And PTFE membranes are compatible with most aggressive acids, alkalis, and solvents, which makes them particularly effective for use with aggressive solvents, liquids, and gases where other types of membranes may not perform as well.
