PTFE membrane is manufactured in a unique way where polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) is expanded both uniaxially and biaxially into a 3-dimensional web-like structure called ePTFE which creates billions of microscopic pore and behaves as an absolute retentive membrane. The 0.1μm,0.22 µm and 0.45μm PTFE membranes we supply are laminated onto nonwoven polypropylene backing for improved strength and easy handling. Supported PTFE membranes are inert to most chemically aggressive solvents, strong acids and bases. And PTFE is a inherently hydrophobic material, which makes PTFE membranes perfect for sterilizing gases and trap aqueous aerosols. When used in venting applications, PTFE allows air to pass easily through the membrane while collecting particulate as small as 0.1 micron on its surface and block aqueous liquids thereby protecting pumps and critical samples. Laminated PTFE fmembrane ilters can also be used to filter aqueous solutions when prewetted with methanol.
